Die vorliegende Abhandlung mit dem Titel „Zukunftswerkstatt Heimatmuseum - Ein Reallabor als Entwicklungsstrategie für ländliche Räume“ analysiert und adaptiert etablierte Formate und Methoden in einem experimentellen Feldversuch, um in Kollaboration mit der lokalen Bevölkerung Zukunftsprojektionen für den Ort Kautzen im nördlichen Waldviertel zu generieren. Dafür wird eine Zukunftswerkstatt im örtlichen Heimatmuseum installiert, eine entsprechende Ausstellung konzipiert und ein facettenreiches Aktivitätsprogramm kreiert. Ein konstruktiver Dialog zwischen sämtlichen involvierten Akteur:innen wird geschaffen, um gemeinschaftlich die Entwicklung von Ideen und Lösungsansätze zu fördern. Anschauliche Zukunftsvisionen implementieren die in der Zukunftswerkstatt gesammelten Ideen und Visionen und gewähren einen Einblick in das vorhandene Entwicklungspotenzial der Gemeinde. Zugleich fungieren sie als Entscheidungshilfe, Orientierungspunkt und Motivationsgrundlage für die Entscheidungsträger:innen. Das Bestreben liegt darin, diese Strategie in Zukunft auch auf andere Orte und Gemeinden anzuwenden, angepasst an die jeweils vorhandenen Gegebenheiten. The present paper entitled „Future Workshop Local Museum - A Real Laboratory as a Development Strategy for Rural Areas“ analyses and adapts established formats and methods in an experimental field test in order to generate future projections for the village of Kautzen in the northern Waldviertel in collaboration with the local population. For this purpose, a future workshop is installed in the local museum, a corresponding exhibition is designed and a multi-faceted programme of activities is created. A constructive dialogue between all the actors involved will be created in order to jointly promote the development of ideas and approaches to solutions. Vivid visions of the future implement the ideas and visions collected in the future workshop and provide an insight into the existing development potential of the community. At the same time, they serve as a decision-making aid, point of orientation and motivational basis for the decision-makers.
